#26 Int'l Network for Young Disabled People

"Youth should be given a chance to take an active part in the decision-making of local, national and global levels."
-United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon

Erin receiving her certificate from Mayor Len Brown at the 2011 Be. Leadership GraduationWe are extremely proud of one of our 2011 Be. Leaders who has recently been awarded a grant from the Oxfam International Youth Partnerships Fund to create an international network for young people with disabilities.

Erin Gough, and her UK Action Partner Zara Todd, have set themselves the mission of creating an online forum for young disabled people to share their projects and discuss issues that are important to them. The idea was borne out of the need for a space to develop and share the skills disabled young people need to get their voices and issues heard on an international stage.

The proposed site will run as an interactive forum with the ability to discuss projects, participate in webinars, and share opportunities for other young disabled people. The goal is to create a site "designed by disabled young people, for disabled young people".

In order to ensure that they are creating an online space that suits the needs of disabled young people, Erin and Zara have created a very quick and easy online survey to collect your input and ideas to make it a success. So if this sounds like you, get involved and contribute your ideas via the survey here, and be part of creating this great international network!
