#75 Halburg Trust’s ANZA Challenge gets Accessibility GOLD!

On October 20th, the ANZA Challenge will be held in the Auckland Domain, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Halburg Trust in NZ.

This exciting event has been assessed for its access features by the specialist Be. Welcome team and we’re excited to announce that it has achieved a gold rating!

The ANZA Challenge is a fun, inclusive, nationwide race held as the culmination of a weeklong celebrity race between two teams representing Australia and New Zealand. It will be run simultaneously in Auckland and Sydney and, this final league of the race will involve 7,000 members of the public between the two cities and will determine the outcome of the challenge.

Some of the event’s access features include:

1. An accessible parking zone will be set up especially for the ANZA event on Carlton Gore Road near the entrance to Grandstand Road in the Domain,

2. They'll be including an accessible presentation area with PA System and a New Zealand Sign Language interpreter,

3. Additional accessible portaloos will be provided on the day near the Grandstand, and

4. The marketing of the ANZA Challenge has covered a range of media so was accessible to a broad audience,

5. The involvement of 40 experienced marshals who will be briefed in providing information and direction to participants and members of the public.

The event Funds raised from the race will go to The Halberg Trust in New Zealand, and the McGrath Foundation and Lifestart in Australia.
